UK TPO Ban Updates

TPO Update - What You Need to Know

You may have seen recent discussions about TPO and changes to UK cosmetic regulations.

We want to reassure our customers that there is no reason for concern.

What is changing?

The UK is introducing new regulations relating to products that contain the photoinitiator TPO (Trimethylbenzoyl Dipheny|phosphine Oxide).

These changes affect the sale of products, not the safety of treatments already carried out or products currently in use.

Key dates

  •   15 August 2026 - New cosmetic product lines containing TPO can no longer be introduced to the UK market.
  •   14 February 2027 - Cosmetic products containing TPO can no longer be sold in the UK.

This is a sales restriction, not an immediate ban on using existing products.

What does this mean for our customers?

Very little. Since 2025 the products we sell have already been formulated using the latest generation of compliant photoinitiators. There are only 3 products currently in our inventory which were produced before the announcement. Our Blooming Gel, Frost Glitter Collection & our original Foil Gel. There is no requirement for salons to stop using existing stock before the legislation comes into effect, and so these products will continue to be sold at a discounted rate until 14 February 2027, or until stocks last.

The new alternatives

As explained, in 2025 we started making the move from traditional TPO to newer, compliant photoinitiators, including:

  •   TPO-L (Ethyl Trimethylbenzoyl
    Phenylphosphinate)
  •   TMO / TPO-R (Trimethylbenzoyl
    Ditolylphosphine Oxide)
  •   ВАРО (Bis-Trimethylbenzoyl
    Phenylphosphine Oxide)
  •   Other approved photoinitiators such as
    Hydroxycyclohexyl Phenyl Ketone

These ingredients are designed to provide the same high-performance curing under our by Sarah LED/UV lamps while meeting current regulatory requirements.

Our commitment

We continually monitor industry guidance and work with a trusted manufacturer that comply with UK cosmetic regulations.
